i feel like i need to adress this.
people these days can call you a poser for absolutely anything and i deeply disagree with the term itself.
i have a nintendo switch and play a lot of games on it, BUT in my childhood i didnt have consoles like gamecube, 3ds, gba, you name it. so am i a newgen? you can call me that. but i didnt grow up hating videogames and bullying people for being a weird kid. i was a weird kid myself! but context matters. because for me context is that i was a russian kid with no money for consoles, videogames, etc. i was really into pokemon for my whole life! i watched anime fully! but the first time i played games was in 2019 when swsh came out. and since then i played every single game there is in pokemon franchise. so does it make me less of a fan? i really liked sonic when i was a kid but only media i consumed were comics and tv shows. since then i played a lot of sonic games. does it make me less of a fan?
people say that emulating games is not the same as playing it on console. i agree. but for some people its the only way. i am against gatekeeping. if you want to start playing old games but are afraid of being called poser, dont be. its never too late to find a new passion.
